Discover Rincon Oaxaqueno

Rincon Oaxaqueño is a hidden gem tucked away at 1544 N Western Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027, offering an authentic taste of Oaxaca that’s hard to beat. For anyone seeking a cozy, unpretentious spot with rich, flavorful dishes and a welcoming atmosphere, this place checks all the boxes.

One of the standout features of Rincon Oaxaqueño is its dedication to preserving traditional Oaxacan flavors. From the moment you step inside, the rustic, yet inviting decor immediately sets the stage for a culinary experience rooted in the vibrant traditions of southern Mexico. Whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor, there’s a comfort in knowing that every dish is made with care and authentic ingredients.

The menu here is a celebration of Oaxaca’s rich food culture, with a variety of traditional dishes that reflect the diversity of the region. A must-try is their mole, a thick, rich sauce that’s sweet, spicy, and absolutely bursting with flavor. It’s the kind of dish that takes hours to prepare, and the chefs at Rincon Oaxaqueño do it justice. The mole can be paired with chicken, pork, or even vegetables for a unique experience every time you visit.

Another crowd favorite is their tlayuda, a large, crispy tortilla topped with a variety of fillings like meat, cheese, and fresh vegetables. It’s a dish that represents the heart of Oaxacan street food, and it’s served fresh and hot, often with a side of salsas and a dollop of sour cream to add an extra kick. The crunchiness of the tortilla contrasts perfectly with the tender meat and fresh toppings, making each bite a delight.

For those with a lighter appetite, the quesillo (Oaxacan cheese) and chapulines (toasted grasshoppers) are also options worth exploring. While chapulines might sound intimidating to some, they add an earthy, slightly tangy flavor to the dish, and if you’re feeling adventurous, you’ll find they’re surprisingly delicious.

The restaurant’s atmosphere also plays a huge role in its charm. The staff at Rincon Oaxaqueño are not only friendly but also genuinely passionate about the food they serve. Many of them are from Oaxaca, and they take pride in sharing the flavors of their hometown with everyone who walks through the door. This personal touch really elevates the dining experience, as it feels like you're being welcomed into someone’s home for a meal.

Aside from the food, Rincon Oaxaqueño also offers a selection of refreshing beverages to complement your meal. Their aguas frescas, especially the hibiscus and tamarind flavors, are a great choice to balance the spices in the dishes. The beverages are made fresh daily, giving them a natural, authentic taste that you just can't find in mass-produced drinks.

If you’re lucky enough to visit during one of the special events or celebrations that the restaurant hosts, you're in for a treat. The lively energy and festive atmosphere add another layer to the dining experience, making Rincon Oaxaqueño a great spot for both casual dinners and special occasions.

The restaurant is relatively easy to find, located just a short drive from central Los Angeles, and parking is usually available nearby. It’s a great stop for those exploring the area or looking for an authentic Oaxacan meal. Given its reputation for fantastic food and a warm, inviting atmosphere, it’s no surprise that Rincon Oaxaqueño has garnered a loyal following among locals and visitors alike.

Whether you’re in the mood for something hearty like the tlayuda or craving the bold flavors of a traditional mole, Rincon Oaxaqueño is a place that delivers consistently. With its commitment to authentic Oaxacan cuisine and friendly, attentive service, it’s no wonder that this little restaurant has become a beloved fixture in the Los Angeles food scene.

  • Went to this place for the first time, because I was tired of trying taco trucks with no flavors. I was told this place was fresh and great food. Well the person who recommended this place was right! Their carne Asada tacos were BOMB! The tacos burst with citrus flavors. Everything here is freshly made. The rice is flavorful and the beans are also delicious. The staff is very friendly. My recommendation would be to revamp the restaurant, because it’s out dated and old looking. Friday and Saturday they have $2.00 tacos so I will be coming back. This place definitely beats a taco truck by far. I definitely recommend this place.

  • It is definitely one of the places where I ate best when I visited Los Angeles. Seen from the outside you would not give a dollar to the place, but if you go inside you will definitely get a lot of satisfaction from the cuisine.Instead of all the half chains that are present in the area here they cook genuine, and you can find typical Mexican food made at the moment. Very different tastes from Italian cuisine, but appreciable

  • Highly recommend. One of the best restaurants I've been to in a long time. Super fast and kind service, wonderful atmosphere, delicious food, and tasty margaritas. I had the chicken tacos, and mango margarita. My only problem was I wish I had a bigger stomach. As someone who must have walked past this restaurant so many times, and now that I've finally tried it, it's my new favorite spot. 10/10

  • Visiting from out of state and this was one of the few places open past 9. The menu is definitely not a typical Mexican menu so we stuck with what we know. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was, we all shared with each other. Would I come back, probably not but still happy we found this place. Only problem was we sat outside as inside it was too small and the section we were at, the lights were out. I didn't mind but my husband did. Overall the host/waitress was friendly. Also a fee to pay with my debit card so we paid cash.

  • The chicken mole tamale was amazing! We also had the tamale de raja and the barbacoa de chivo and everything was really good! Truly a hidden gem, phenomenal Oaxacan food in an unassuming little spot. ¡Todo fue tan delicioso!

  • A great little place. The food was delicious! I don't think I've ever had real authentic Mexican food. This is very different from your usual texmex menu. Their mole is to die for! Both my husband and I loved our food.
